Terms & Conditions of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of horological appraisal, repair, restoration, and strap fabrication services by SYMBOLIC HOROLOGY AUSTRALIA PTY LTD (ABN 52 100 000 007), operating as Symbolic Times. By submitting a timepiece to our atelier at Level 4, 180 Collins Street, Melbourne, or authorizing an estimate online, you agree to be bound by these terms.

2. Australian Consumer Law (ACL) Compliance

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), set out in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).

Nothing in these terms limits, excludes, or modifies any statutory consumer guarantees, rights, or remedies you possess under the ACL. For major failures with our service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund of the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.

3. Service Estimates & Authorisation

  • Preliminary Inspection: All timepieces undergo preliminary photographic and diagnostic evaluation upon arrival. A formal written estimate outlining recommended repairs, component replacements, and costs will be provided.
  • Work Authorisation: Work commences only upon receipt of written client confirmation (email or signature).
  • Latent Movement Defects: In rare instances where hidden internal wear (such as fractured jewel bearings or rusted train wheels) is discovered during microscopic teardown, a supplementary estimate will be issued for approval prior to proceeding.

4. Replacement Parts & Provenance

We pride ourselves on horological integrity. We exclusively utilize genuine manufacture replacement components wherever available. Any vintage components replaced during service will be returned to the client in protective vials alongside the completed watch, ensuring historic provenance is retained.

5. Transit & Insurance

Timepieces transported to or from our Melbourne atelier via our courier arrangements are insured up to the declared replacement value specified on the intake manifest. Clients are responsible for ensuring accurate declared valuations.

6. Uncollected Timepieces

Timepieces completed and notified for collection must be collected or delivery arranged within 90 days. Unclaimed items are subject to the Australian Consumer Law and Victorian Fair Business Legislation regarding disposal of uncollected goods.

7. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia. The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
